Vodacom RCS messaging not working

On my unbranded Huawei phone using a MTN sim I believe it is still not using Googles universal RCS profile, and instead using MTN's implementation. I say this because I have the very same problem when trying to unregister as described in Ockie's original post on this thread.

My guess is then that it picks up the network identifier on the sim and then routes it via the network instead (if said network have implemented RCS). If not, then it goes via Google RCS servers.

@jannievanzyl Vodacom IT just comes back and says:

Please note that this is not a C3D functionality issue .

We suggest the sub visit their nearest Vodashop or Huawei repair store and as for assistance.

I believe this is a issue with Vodacom's RCS implementation on some lines but no one seems to know what it is or how to fix it. Are you aware of any issues?

OK, so my work number finally registered on Vodacom RCS on the Google Messages app. I think what did the trick is entering it in the international format. When you get to the part where you have to put in your number, it already has a block with +27 there, so you would think you have to enter your number as 82******* , but it seems you actually have to enter it as +2782*******

Looks like Samsung will now join the RCS system. Look here: https://mspoweruser.com/googles-rcs-chat-comes-to-samsung-messages-app/

No1-Quote:- Samsung and Google are joining hands to bring RCS messaging to unlocked Galaxy phones. And now, it looks like the hard work has finally paid off as Google’s RCS messaging is now expanding to the Samsung Messages app. Support for RCS messaging will mean Samsung Galaxy users will no longer require to use carrier phones to use the feature. - Unquote

No2-Quote:- Support for RCS messaging is rolling out to the Samsung Messages app in a phased manner as the feature is not widely available. Nevertheless, since Samsung has started rolling out the feature, it’s only a matter of time before the feature becomes available for every Galaxy user.- Unquote
