If I was a loyal Vodacom contract client since 1994 with 6 lines and I was due for a upgrade in August but my phone is starting to give me problems and I phoned your retentions department asking for a early upgrade and maybe a special deal what would you have said to me??

I will let you know what MTNSP told me after I get a reply from someone.

It's nothing special, depending on your profile you can do a premature upgrade even 12 months before your due date. You will then for example pay 3 years before upgrading again. Will your contract be in month 22 or 24 in August? Some SP's allow an upgrade in month 22.

In the cellphone industry there is no loyalty to long-term clients. Take a look at the specials advertised, and try to get it as an existing customer! "No sir, that is only for new subscibers. For contract renewals, please choose one of these 3 year old phones!"

I can upgrade in month 20. August is month 20. I know about someone that's asked for a "special deal" because he's a client for a while and spend a certain amount per month so he got a nice deal and they also gave him R3500 cash. So where do they draw the line and who benefit?
