:D being using vodacom 3g (phone as a modem) did speed tests, downloading, watched tv and compare to other networks YOU GUYS ROCK

Tried using Mtn but I see towards the afternoon everythings goes down, sure they might say for a short time but in the end with the cost of living in South Africa and the price we pay for data? Should'nt we get the best?

Not to favour any network (I use all 4) iv seen how VodaCom vs MTN war went on and on,but inthe end. VodaCom you got my vote

:p.s i didnt work for voda

Just try that in napier ...

Ping on vodacom - 4000-8000, sometimes even 15000 to international
slow response time, average 50% packet loss, absolute crap gprs/edge speeds. I am a voda subscriber for the past 7 years, but i switched my data to mtn when inet went to the dogs here.

MTN - 1200-2400 depending on time of day.
pretty constant, hardly any packet loss.

All this due to Helkom taking a minimum of 12 months to install fiber upgrades, and when they finally do, they already need way more fiber...

:o SORRY IM MEAN I DO NOT WORK FOR THEM

Well I didnt know about other places in S.A but Durban sure rock when it comes to data!

 now you just being mean! I have to say what I feel about the networks i use, not my problems virgin and vodacom data works good for me and not others:p

 I want what you've been smoking... Wouldn't mind for a stable connection... Guess if I smoke something my slow lagging brain will find the current latency to be top notch.

Wish i can say the same. This is my 1st VC PPDB and the EDGE signal has the same behaviour as Virgin's GPRS/EDGE, up and down the whole way.
Sometimes it goes up to 25Kb/sec and the next moment it's down to 00Kb/sec.

Sound nice....but wait till Gauteng goes on Holiday to the coast...and suddenly 619 ext returns to Durbs again!?

hspa is king !

Reasons why i'd prefer vodafone hsdpa
1.Even though MTN 1st launched hsdpa they had no modems to supply
2.MTN 3g/hsdpa coverage sucks compared to vodacom (they not even in my road wtf).
3.The Vodafone data packages are more realistic to ones data requirements.:)
4.Vodacom is gonna launch there hsupa service by the end of this year to give true mobile broadband experience. :) but so is MTN ... yay faster uploades.
5.The way data rates are being slashed they only get cheaper (HOPEFULLY:rolleyes: 5c/1MB).
If anyone can answer them i've got some questions ?
1.WHY DONT THE JUST LET US PAY FOR THE DATA WE USE INSTEAD OF BLOODY CAPPING US  ?
2.When in the world are MTN/Vodacom going to offer mobile double/triple play ?
3.Right now MTN/Vodafone hsdap speeds are at 1.8Mbps will that ever increase & when Hsupa is launched what speed will it be ?

S.A Broadband SUCKS !

If anyone can answer them i've got some questions ?
1.WHY DONT THE JUST LET US PAY FOR THE DATA WE USE INSTEAD OF BLOODY CAPPING US  ?
Bcos Telkodemonopolies has a de facto monopoly on national and international bandwidth, and Telkodemonopolies' pricing is exorbitant for all its customers [Vodacom, MTN, CellC, Digicrap customers, consumers, ...], this is primarily why we cannot have uncapped HSDPA in SA at this point in time, another reason is that many more base-stations will need to be rolled out to cope with uncapped bandwidth requirements, each of those base-stations would necessitate increased fibre optic backhaul bandwidth - which does not happen overnight.

Also, read the following:
2.When in the world are MTN/Vodacom going to offer mobile double/triple play ?
DoublePlay means voice+data, obviously that has been available for quite a while.

TriplePlay means voice+data+tv_content, and Vodacom has had VLive MobileTV available for quite a while as well, albeit for the small screen. High definition broadcasts will have to wait until [searchforum]HSPA[/searchforum] approaches the theoretical 14.4Mbits/s downlink limit.
3.Right now MTN/Vodafone hsdap speeds are at 1.8Mbps will that ever increase & when Hsupa is launched what speed will it be ?

S.A Broadband SUCKS !
Yes, 3.6Mbits/s downlink speed on HSDPA, [post=1311016]click here...[/post]

 look...face the facts

1-With MTN you can't add another data-b until the end of the 30days which with vodacom YOU CAN DO

2-I know maybe speed and getting dc may be a downside but with MTN always working on their 3g  and cell c/virgin moving with 2.5G;)

3- I did load 10mg on MTN to try out thier 3G/hsdpa.

Connection.......google:p.......dc  .....connect......myadsl.....
dc.........*141# Y'ello,You have R0.00
airtime (not even a kb of data)

You might say oh it must be dial-up or maybe an anti-virus DOWNLOADING UPDATES (well i know how to see whats what on the pc), then where's the data then? Phoned them up they said i used 10mg plus the airtime...:sick:wow

4-mtn coverage? :pis it everywhere u go?

I KNOW TELECOM'S HAVE PROBLEMS BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MY MONEY,MY TIME I DON'T CARE WHAT NETWORK LONG AS ITS VALUE FOR MY RAND WHICH IN THIS CASE :pVODAcom kicks 3G ass
