My contract with Vodacom finishes on 7 January 2015. On 30 November I went to Vodacom store to as about procedure and when I can cancel my contract, I was advised to call 082 1958, but, that I should only do this after 15 December. I proceded to call Vodacom on the 27th December to advise that I would not like to renew my contract and that I would like to switch the simcard to a prepaid sim.
I was then advised that they will still charge me for the full January, as "they will be giving me the minutes" (i dont want the minutes and didnt ask for any minutes after 7 Jan). I dont want to extend the contract for a single day, my contract was for 2 years (not 2 years and 23 days), they can bill you pro rata when you start a contract, but cant bill you pro rata when the cotract finishes?
The call centre advised that I should have contacted them 30days in advance if I would have liked the contract to be cancelled by 7 January, this is exactly contradictory to what I was told when I went to a store, now Knysna Vodacom just shrugs their shoulders and Vodacom call centre states that this is their policy?
Is it just me, or is this another way that corporate has found a way to milk the customer for every last drop?
