Vodacom Signal and gprs

When im using the internet connection, almost all the time and everyday it just cutss off totally and then i have to reconnect. this gets really annoying! is there a way out of this possibly?

There are a few things that could cause this, first start by looking at this setting quick:

I assume that you are using windows XP so...

Go to:
Start
Settings
Control Panel
Network Connections

Right click on your Dial-up connection and select Properties. Click on the Options tab and make sure that "Idle time before hangup" is set to "never".

I'v used it previously on my symbian Nokia and now HTC TyTN and it still goes like this

oh, are you using it on a phone and not on a PC?

what are you using the connection for (browsing/java apps/java games)?

are you using GPRS or 3G/HSPDA?

Yes Im using it on the ppc

For everythng..it just cuts off

I think its Hsdpa..it has a U symbol ontop.

but this doesnt matter bcoz wen i use my NOKIA 7610 it gives me the exact same problem

kk, I don't know what the U is for but in general I don't use the 3G on my phone, it tends to disconnect even in areas where my 3G card for my pc stays connected.

Think you should ask V3G for help on this one.

Some basic questions.
1) What type and model of modem are you using.
2) Which program are you using to connect & version of program.
3) In which area are you.

The U stands for UMTS, which is just a different way of saying 3G. What you need to look for in the phone's settings, is a setting to lock-onto a specific Vodacom network - manually, if you prefer GPRS then set the phone to use GPRS, otherwise go for the UMTS setting for 3G|HSDPA, there should also be a setting that allows switching between the 2G & 3G networks, which might work better in your case - unless that is what the phone is currently set to and is what is giving you problems.
