One of my prepaid SIM cards has been disconnected after several months of inactivity. Is it possible for me to get the card reactivated with the current number? Is a SIM swap possible or have I lost this very important number?

Afraid you have lost the number, same thing happened to my sister who was stuck in Dubai with her son when COVID hit. Came back to SA and stuck in a hotel and discovered her SIM was dead.

Oh no! These cell companies really make things as difficult as possible for everybody!

If the number is so important, why was it inactive for several months?

The SIM was in my wife's phone and she is stuck overseas due to Covid and I forgot to regularly make a chargeable call. In the past Vodacom would keep SIM cards active for up to 9 months but it seems that they are recycling them earlier now.
