Hi All,

I need to get the PUK code for one of our simcards that we use at work for 3G, i unfortunately don't have the number. Is it possible to get the cellnumber by giving someone at Vodacom the simnumber(number at the back of the simcard)? i just called the call centre and ended up with nothing.

Please help.

thanks

Wrong Forum = use Vodacom Broadband one.

Referred essop1@gp to Internet Solutions and given support numbers as I am not allowed to give out privelidged info on this line.

Let us know please if you come right with them essop.

We are able to look up cell numbers using the sim number for both prepaid and contract. This feature was also made available to dealers on our system. It is quick and painless. I did assist with OP with his query and gave him the cell number. I was unable to provide him with the PUK number as my system poped up with a message box as soon as I entered the number giving explicit instruction to refer the user of this number to Internet Solutions as we are under no circumstances to give out information regarding the lines administered by them to protect customer details. I provided him with the contact numbers for their support lines and considered the matter closed.

more edit: and i see you also chimed in saying you cant help...what makes this situation so different that you went and helped him? *THIS MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL*

But that was in 2009 meneer. We (dealers) only got functionality to look up cell numbers using sim numbers earlier this year. If I could have helped I would have. :-(

why don't you just gooi the sim in a phone and sent out a call back to another number?or recharge the sim and make a call

Because he was requesting the PUK number therefore the sim is locked and can not make a call out, sms out or send a please call me to see what the number is.

forgive my stupidity,i once had a similar problm, vodacom helped me after i supplied the device imei number

Along similar lines to this thread I have a problem with a GSM telemetry system that I have been designing that perhaps someone can help me with.

I use a "soft" RTC to keep track of the time and date in the PIC microcontroller and I initialize this RTC by sending an SMS to itself and then extract the time and date from the incoming SMS string as +CMT: "+27715010088","","11/08/18,08:13:26+08".

Before I send an SMS to itself I need to know the SIM number (like 082 123 4567) and previously I sent an AT+CUSD=1,"*130*787#" and the resulting string contained the units own SIM number. This USSD service seems to have stopped now.

I can find plenty of MTN USSD commands to retrieve SIM numbers but nothing for Vodacom. Anyone any ideas ?

Hey there I have the same problem and I do know this is an old post but I just wanted to have an answer. Can I go to a vodacom dealership and get the phone number via the sim number or is there someone here that can help me? I tried to PM @ockie but I see that he/she is no longer receiving PM's. So any help would be lovely, thank you in advance!

Despite Vodacom's seeming total lack of knowledge of the USSD codes *111*501# doe indeed work, but for this SP only :)

This procedure works for voice SIMs and telemetry ones as well.

Good luck...
