Hi All,

I hope this is the correct forum. I am experiencing an issue over the last 2 - 3 days that when I make a call to Vodacom or other networks, sometimes (more often than not) I can't hear the person I have called, as in it is dead silent. After a few tries, I am finally able to hear the person I called. Anybody else experiencing this lately when calling from Vodacom network.

Thanks

I've experienced that for a few months, possibly a year now.
It takes about 20 seconds to "connect" after the other person has already answered.
It doesn't even ring in my ear while I'm waiting

or ... the person you are calling has loaded a custom ringing sound on their phone (which plays instead of the standard ring ring sound the caller hears), which was then inadvertently deleted, resulting in the phone playing nothing instead of making the ring noise.

:p

Same here atm, tried to phone twice and only silence. But i was charged for these silent calls.

@Mantis
Yes, I am experiencing that.

Also, I just had a call where I was able to hear the caller fine for the first few seconds, then it went dead for a few seconds, then I could hear again for a few seconds, then it went dead for a few more sends, and then ...... You get the picture.

My phone also seems to freeze when this happens?
Have you perhaps flashed your phone or messed with codes or anything like that?

I have found the problem, it is my phone. I have a Samsung S7350 which is a slide phone. The issue is with the slider. When it is fully extended, the speaker doesn't work at all, even with the music player. If I slide it slowly back down, the speaker goes on and off.

I will have to take it into a Vodacare shop for repairs. I still have 6 months on contract and within the Vodacom 2 year warranty.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I don't think thats right.
Mine is also a querty slider (LG KS360)but it happens when the phone is in either position and even when I'm using the headphones.

Happens more on my contract sim than on my prepaid

I also have this. About 5 seconds. Very irritating. Especially for those impatient bastards who hang up before two way comms are established.
