I have a new phone and browsing on it via the Vodacom network is very slow, although it is showing a HSDPA connection. It's an android phone and I installed speedtest.net on it.
I then run 2 tests from it - speedtest.net and speed.vodacom.co.za – testing against a Cape Town server
Phone results:
speed.vodacom.co.za – down 503kbps, up 420 kbps
speedtest.net – down 226 kbps, up 285 kbps
Why is there such a big difference in the result? Is Vodacom fattening up their results?
I also tested on from my PC using a Vodacom 3G USB modem showing a HSDPA connection from the same location and at the same time.
3G USB results:
speed.vodacom.co.za – down 6512 kbps, up 963 kbps
speedtest.net – down 2090 kbps, up 810 kbps
Why is there such a big difference between the phone and 3G USB results? What are the correct/best Vodacom settings for internet connection on my phone?
Thanks
