Vodacom Strand Tower: Where art thou?

Sitting with 0% Vodacom signal here in beachroad in the Strand - quite odd. Picking up GSM+3G of MTN, CELLC and "02" (who is that?) but cannot use any of them: Forbidden Network

Luckily with RICA et al it is so easy for me to just quickly buy a new sim to be able to rule out a sim/phone/etc problem.

Yep, all VC devices dead in Strand / have some signal in Gbay, don't know about Somerset west.

At least we have MTN Business contracts

Should the thieves know this, GSM alarm systems operated by a VC SIM won’t be operational… And many GSM Commanders to be dead in Helderberg at the moment. Seems nobody has signal, except those against the mountain side in Gbay.

They will naturally fall over to roaming (if enabled) to MTN/8ta/CellC. Also networks separate voice, data and SMS.

SW is apparently dead according to a friend who as an internet cafe in CBD. Our business is nearby (100m) and we noticed 8ta was giving grief the last week with our 8ta data SIM. Guess somebody is playing with towers.

(Just sent an SMS to my SMS gateway (Vodacom) in Somerset West and message sent)

UPDATE: Wife just confirmed that gateway is not receiving or sending SMSs the whole day (she uses it to send appointment reminders and replies are stored in a DB).

Glad to report that the tower went online again sometime around 3PM - not sure exactly when.
