Hi,

there is a 3G marketing website at

http://www.threeg.co.za/

The most important question still remains unanswered: COSTS!

South Africa needs World Class Broadband at World Competitive Prices.

Seems like it’s fizzled #61516;

They were already meant to announce the pricing.

Pity my phone aint on that list :/
Im sure I saw somewhere that a 7610 is 3G compatible

Decotey,

I think most of the newer Symbian phones are somewhat compatable. As far as I know the deciding factor is video calls. So most phones won't make that cut, even if they support all the network features.

The only Nokia 3G phones ready for our market are the 7600 and 6630. My contact, who is performing network testing, tells me that both have been referred to Nokia in Finland, as there are issues around logging onto the 3G network.
If you can get hold of a Nokia 6650 (which was released about 2 years ago, but not in SA), then that should also work, although it is quite outdated as you can imagine.
Yesterday I played around with the Motorola E1000... A nice compact phone, not to heavy, brilliant sound and of course very fast over the 3G network! [:D] Several weeks ago I tried a video call with my colleague using two Motorola A835s, which was fun!
