Vodacom Top Up 135 Upgrades

I was looking forward to my upgrade in February, but have a look here at the sh*t phones I can get on my contract! :mad:

They used to be so much better.

Two years ago I got a SE k750i with a 2MP camera, can't even get the same now! Two years later!

Four years ago I got a R2000 voucher with a 3310. Now the maximum is R1200!

Wow dude, I feel your pain!!

I was literally about to start a thread EXACTLY like this one! I am up for upgrade in April. I also got a K750 on my last upgrade and have been really happy with it.

Now, it seems all you can get on Family Top Up are the same kind of phones that we could two years ago. 2 years later! Not cool :(
 
Perhaps it is worthwhile upgrading to TopUp275 or something like that. The extra cash per month still gets you airtime and at least you get a decent phone :p
 
The phones you can get now are worse than the one I got 2 years ago as well. What I did was buy another phone everseas cash and got that MtN no-phone contract

hj2k_x, I'm thinking of getting the Weekender contract for R135 monthly with an HTC PDA phone - the special is on www.vodacom.co.za - and selling it for R4000. Then I'll use that R4000 to make some more cash, buy myself a nice phone and then just buy pre-paid airtime. I'll use the original SIM for off-peak calls.

Ya, that is true. The HTC is not a great phone but not everyone knows that so you might well make some decent cash off it. Why not just get a nice phone on Weekender and keep it for yourself though?
 
Is there someone out there who can leak the releases from 6 Feb. I am due for upgrade 21 Jan. I did not see the phone (6120C) I want for upgrade at any other places (Game, Dion) other than a Vodashop.

Why don't you want to get it from Vodashop? Is there not one near you?

I went to the one in Canal Walk and the guys there were really helpful :)
 
I have also got a Top Up account and there are no interesting phones. I am thinking maybe to go to Virgin Mobile and get the Free unlimited sms contract
 
Migrate to weekender, control your spend and you get far better phones.

My gosh, it has:
- colour display:eek:
- 500 entry phonebook:eek:
- stereo FM radio with speaker phone :eek::eek:
It even has an alarm clock, we all know that's the primary reason we all buy cellphones, I hardly receive calls on the thing but its nice to know that something that small can wake me up in the mornings.
