I want to purchase a travel bundle for a trip abroad but have found a strange issue...

If I dial *135*130# I get the choice of 7 days/1GB for R99 or 7 days/5GB for R349.

If I go to the Vodacom app under Buy/International roaming I have 2 different choices, 7 days & 100 minutes for R199 or 7 days 5GB & 200 minutes for 549.

So if I want the 7 days/1GB for R99 I need to use the USSD code before I leave which is fine, but who tf goes overseas for 7 days, so obviously overseas you need to renew but I can't use the USSD and the app is twice the price for minutes I don't need.

I'm losing the will to live waiting on 082 135. Can anyone check if their app has the same options or where the R99 option is on it?

Just buy a local SIM at your destination..

For many reasons too long to explain including being in different countries and a 20 hour layover on the way, that doesn't work for me. I'm interested in knowing if I can reload the 7 days 1GB for R99.

@Spizz - Sir try the careful study and reading of this link https://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/shopping/v/data-travel-bundles by selection of your destination country and FAQ T&C and you will find your R99 one.
EDIT: We have noticed that the option you are looking for is available on your App, not sure of USSD.
EDIT-2: Tried my USSD, this indicates your R99 and all other options as well.
EDIT-3: The official T&C of this product https://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/terms/vodacom-travel-bundle-app

Yes. I read the link previously.

Yes. I found the R99 details.

No. It is available on USSD, it is not available on my app. It says choose a category but there is only this one.

Yes, but I can’t access the USSD from another country. I need to load it on the app.

Thanks. But my initial query still stands. Can you help me?

The way it should work is ice you have consumed all the data or reach the 7 days a new bundle will provision automatically if you are still logged in to a foreign network (provided you have enough airtime loaded if you are a prepaid or top up contract customer)

Oh cool. So does that mean I load the R99 using USSD, first time I hit a foreign network it kicks in and then it renews automatically if I’m still overseas and/or until I cancel?

If that’s the case that’s great. I was wondering about the 7 days thing being so little but then that will keep it going for as long as needed.

Thanks Ockie.

Indeed. Once your phone registers back on the Vodacom home network the bundle will no longer auto load.

2023 is the year that @Spizz incidentally discovers that Vodacom can do 187 auto-renewals in a row without pre-approval.

Spizz did everything correctly ... but he forgot to switch from 4K to 360p ... and now he can't afford to fly again until 2024.

Turns out I just need to land back in the country and it stops. Who knew? :p
