Hi All,

I am considering upgrading my VC contract next month, but still a little undecided between doing this and letting the contract run out and moving to Telkom. Telkom are only a little cheaper than VC on the type of contract (with phone) that I am looking at.

The Vodacom uChoose Smart More Data Contracts look good, but I am struggling to find out anything definitive on adding more voice minutes to it. One VC shop told me that you need to buy airtime (Rand Value) and then will be paying R1.80/minute. They couldn't confirm if the R6/60 minutes voice bundle can be bolted on to this. Does anyone know?

What they don't make clear is that the VC packages double if you take a SIM only deal. So you will get double minutes. Just keep that in mind. Oh and there are 2 types of SIM only. Also check if they are sill running the two pricing options. The cheaper on has no rollover and there is no OOB charges, you have to topup. The other charges OOB to your monthly bill and has rollover.

The disadvantage of the VC SIM only deals is that they are for 24 months. Telkom are month-to-month, but then you are tied to their coverage. All the networks have blind spots and 2g only, etc. I think MTN allows one month notice with no penalty on SIM only.

Thanks. With that in mind it may be better to buy a phone cash from Orange store and get a SIM only deal. Even with interest in a Credit Card
