I've just moved to a new place and I'm having some weird issues with dropped calls. All the generic threads seem to be about data issues so here is my new thread about my voice issue.
The issue seems to be very specific to the area where my house is (Wilgeheuwel). Use my phone at work and many other locations and haven't had this issue.
It doesn't seem like a signal strength issue but rather an issue with the BTS or the transmission. The call is fine for (sometimes) many minutes with no breaking or stuttering. Then the call just goes silent, a bit of "hello? hello?" from either side, then the voice stream seems to recover for about 2-3 seconds and then the phone drops the call.
Now it would be handy if we could blame my handset but my wife is having exactly the same issue with calls on her phone since we moved in here. I have my phone set on GSM-only to save battery, the wife's phone is on GSM/WCDMA mode so I don't think that its a 3G issue directly.
I'm a little loathed to phone and report it to the call center cause A) I probably won't complete the call and B) all my careful testing and diagnostics will not be recorded or used...
Is their any way to send this kind of info directly to the RAN engineers to look at and try and fix?
