I'm trying to set up an instrument which uses a sim card to send emails to a server. Due to some of the intricacies of the system it uses, I have a bunch of sensors with sim cards sending emails to a single address. I'm looking for a workable free smtp + imap/pop system. First try will be using the vodamail service. It throws a login page at me, but won't let me set up a password because I don't have security questions set up etc. etc. What is the simplest way of getting a vodamail email address up and running. Failing this, what are some basic free email services I could try?

Don't use an isp mail service.. they don't care for it, it's not a priority and will shut it down as and when they see fit without so much as a care for your email.. don't expect any support tickets to be actioned for issues with it either..

If you can setup a simple SMTP mailer service on the device, you can use a throw away email service like mailinator.com which is free, requires no sign up or logging in at all..
