I recently became eligible for an upgrade. What should have been a pleasant experience and straightforward process, has unfortunately turned into a frustrating battle by dealing with incompetent people, that started on Friday.

Current status - NO service at all since early this afternoon!!

Never again Vodacom, having been a loyal customer for 13 years, this is simply the last straw!

Now is a good time to switch operators, as long as it's not to MTN :)

You should have asked Linoman to open this thread, he got the attention of the Cell C CEO (the other one)

Vodacom, MTN, they're both bloody useless. I was with MTN for 12 years and decided to move when they came out with those stupid anytime contracts and tried to sell me on paying double for call rates rather than the good rate I had on the old procall 600. Ported to Vodacom and the quality of the network was shocking. Where to from here - my Vodacom contract is almost up and I'm looking for the least pathetic service of a sorry bunch

You don't want VC or MTN, so that leaves Cell C? :erm:

A more detailed description of what happened/is happening would help.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I did not want to bore people with the details of 13 calls to the Call Centre and 3 trips to Vodacare Centres. Specifically not with absurd suggestions by the "experts" that I should switch my phone off and on every 30 minutes and it will "sort it self out"!?

Service was eventually restored some time this morning. However, I have had it with Vodacom!

Thanks, will keep it mind. However, not too long ago, between my wife and I, we have had four Vodacom contracts. We are down to two now of which one expires within the next few months. The remaining one will be terminated as soon as possible thereafter!

Ive also been having issues but with their Internet across all phones (X10, 3GS, BB8900 and 5800) , yesterday afternoon from around 3pm to around 7pm i had no GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA and again this morning it happened, they can be so unreliable it just irritates the ***** out of me.

Goodbye Vodacom. I will never miss you... nor your silly advertising sms's arriving at random times of the night, your pathetic meerkat, fail 3G speeds, and rip-off OB data rates.

I also had my experience these vodacom idiots.

In december i wanted to upgrade my contract.
I got my contract 6 years ago but i have never upgraded, this was the first time i wanted to upgrade.
I also NEVER missed one single payment i. These 6 years.

The debit order on 1 december failed to go through and when i got a notification sms about it i paid the outstanding amount via EFT.
A couple of days later i decided to upgrade and get a new phone and they told me that because i missed the one payment, i was not allowed to upgrade for another 3 months until my account was cleared again.

I really think it's absolutely pathetic. These companies are more than happy to take your money but no kind of customer service can actually be expected to come from their side. Typical

I have three contracts with Vodacom and up until a few weeks ago I was happy.
then one of my phones stopped working. sent it in for repairs and was told liquid damage.
Yet none of the indicators inside the phone indicated water/liquid damage.
Despite complaining they refused to budge. Obviously the the close to R1500 a month I spend with them was not important enough.
All my contracts expire in June
Guess who will not be upgrading ;)
While I am no fan of either Cell C or MTN I am moving as a matter of principle. I will be moving to MTN because they are the only cell company to offer insurance up-front for water damage, something that while small impressed me.
As for Vodacom they make me

As for upgrades, why is it that companies that have had you as loyal customers offer you the same crappy deals as new phone buyers. Surely and upgrade is not just a new phone but should be a reward for being a loyal customer. Thank God for number portability
I hate Vodacom
I hate Vodacom
I hate Vodacom :D:D:D
Rant ends, sorry for hijacking your thread
