Could anybody advise me ? If I go to "my account" and then click on MyMeg250 once off" . Is that immediately available ? and does it run until the end of the month and then expire ?

I'm not sure how quickly it reflects in your account but there is a 60 (iirc) day rollover period before it expires.

I get a 20mb package for my iphone (4u contract) and its up to 80mb now.

It can take up to 24 hours to activate, but usually only minutes. It lasts for 60 odd days.
