Vodafone 3G/HSDPA help!

I cannot get my vodafone 3G card to function as a port is not ënumerated on my NEC PCMIA card. I used to have Huawei modem but now Vodacom gave me software for a Colt 5000 modem. Will this work on the same card? How can I get my PC to pick up the NEC PCMIA and the modem as when I query the modem I get a message that the port is not open? Can anybody help
