How is it done.

Bought the modem 10 months ago in South Africa.

It doesn't detect Telkom's sim.

I want to use it with Vodacom and Telkom.

Please help!!

AFAIK, these modems were never network locked in the first place. Are you sure that it only works with a VC sim? Have you tried an MTN one?

If all else fails, take it to a Vodashop.

I don't think Vodafone's dashboard likes other SIMs, try Mobile Partner (the file with UTPS in the name) from Huawei, or MDMA 'omegrown.

Ahh, yes, I forgot about about the VF dashboard, because I use the other 2.

You need to flash it with the networks dashboard you want to use. But if you use Ubuntu, never a problem

Nope - I had HMP installed on my laptop since the time I had my first modem (E220), and with the new one (E172) I just close the VF pop up window and run HMP from the desktop.
