It's not bad but there are better alternatives... the old adage of you get what you pay for applies.
Its a good product I think, what about supplying a few free to the schools in alex soweto etc? Four hundred bucks is a lot there. So let them spread the word in the townships as well?

What product would you advise for an IT illiterate environment (and most likely very low levels of education) with no to very low income per household, most likely rural. Assume no access to IT support of any kind.

The webbox would be a good solution in the cases you mentioned assuming they have a proper TV set, I highly doubt that's the case, a cheap tablet like this would be ideal.
