Do we need more proof of the failure of BEE? Obscene empowerment of the already empowered. How many more people could have been housed or given jobs with a more progressive and well thought-out empowerment policy? R690 million for one person FFS
 
Great so Telkom can use that R60 billion to upgrade their network without raising tarriffs and finally bring SA into the 21st century right? Right???

They are beneficiaries of Elephant Consortium, which acquired 6.7% of Telkom for R3.5-billion

no need to wonder why the nation is being shafted.

Holy sh*t how the heck does a monopoly company be valued so low compared to a mobile newer company.. then again looking at payouts no wonder we have almost no fixed line growth etc. So it seems Telkom has truely been run into the ground whilst ripping SA citizens off.

One analyst said Vodafone could avoid a shareholder battle with -Telkom by purchasing the whole of Telkom. He described its current R70-billion price tag as “very cheap”.

Exactly what i was thinking with the pound exch rate right now. Keeping in mind they'd get Vodacom + Telkom and would be the be all and end all of telecoms in SA if they bought Telkom.
 
Not going to happen GVT is still the majority shareholder without their approval nothing will happen.
 
Tax Refund

And to think I have stated several times on this forum that the world is run from the Board Room.
Government's just think they are running the show.:D

Do you think we can get a refund on our Taxes paid before Telkom was privitised and became the biggest legalised Monopoly in our short democratic history.

I don't really care who gets rich here. As long as VodaCom is released from Telkom
 
I also dont care if these fortunate folks make bucket loads of cash either.
I do however think it stinks to high heaven that they are making this type of money without providing the services and products. Its shocking.
That just makes them rip-off artists.
 
This will be as win-win situation for everyone. Telkom and government makes $$$, and the rest of the country can start moving forward into the 21st century. I really hope this happens, even if they need to bribe the different parties.
