@jannievanzyl sorry to drag you into this, but I think this needs to be polled.

I now tried to just buy minutes and data on my personal phone (my personal calls gets forwarded to my work phone because it is not a dual sim phone so I need to pay for it, which is fine. I also need to pay for data for when I am not home).

Trying to do these two very simple things took me like 15 minutes to figure out. And I consider myself at least moderately computer and cellphone app literate. Hell, just the other day I had to take screenshot after screenshot to show my mom how to to pay a beneficiary on Capitec because they changed the layout very VERY slightly.

The VodacomPay Superapp for me personally is just not user friendly. If I am having issues navigating it or finding my way through the prompts, then I can just imagine how my mom or people older than her would struggle. You have taken a perfectly good app which was simple to use for daily needs and changed it into this monstrous thing where you have to scroll around, up and down and sidewise and various prompts where you get so confused you have to actually start all over again to make sure you dong the right thing.

On the old app I could immediately see what my balances are, one click, and I am in the buy section, one more click to say I want it deducted from my Top Up airtime (Top Up Contract) and tada, I am right there. Now it is scrolling and prompts that confuses you.

I understand Vodacom seeing this as a business model. One app for everything. I do. That is Gen Z. I am older and my mom even more so, not to mention my gran. Have Vodacom thought of them? We want a simple app where we can convert airtime to data and voice bundles and nothing confusing like this "Super App" is offering. Can Vodacom please reconsider either splitting the two apps back in half again as before or at the very least do a drastic redesign for the VodaPay app?

Peeps....what is your thought? Polls is open.

Yes, this app is terrible. I have one Vodacom prepaid simcard in an outdoor IOT device that is beyond WiFi range, I had to top up its data a week or so back, first time I used the new app… and couldn’t figure out how to do anything. Ended up ordering a new simcard from “Melon Mobile” that have a super easy to use mobile app, and I can manage multiple sims and esims on one platform with no frills.

Who on earth at Vodacom decides gamification of buying airtime was a good idea?

Other: I don't mind it, just don't like the bloated ads all over the place. My only gripe is it often takes forever to log in. I find I need to close the app and open it again and then it works 2nd time round. None of my other apps on my phone do this so I cannot blame my phone for it.

PS Jannie is away with home renovations and will only be back next month

@Ockie, you're being very kind to Vodacom. Their app is an unmitigated disaster. Just simplify it, it is trying to be too many things.
Not trying to be kind or rude. I just think we need user input on this app from a place like MyBB. I personally don't like it. But that is me. I can only imagine what a schlep it must be for elderly etc.

Capitec Connect which my partner uses is much more simple. Yes...it is few clicks you have to do...but all easy to find...makes logical sense and takes about 5 seconds to do for each purchase.... minute's and data seperately.

Vodacom probably paid the same people to design the Vodapay App as what FNB did for their overly complex, jump through a million sub menus to find anything ridiculous app.

(At least FNB app still keeps the primary functions like making payments or managing your accounts pretty straightforward, it’s only the extra stuff like ebucks and rewards and lifestyle add ons that you need a phd to navigate)

Not with Vodacom and so have never used the app...but my immediate question would be why does anyone need this in the first place when they can do it on a variety of other platforms they already have?

With me personally...I am on a Top Up contract....so I get. Rand value per month on Vodacom. I then convert that airtime into minutes and data bundles. You can only do it on the Vodacom app iny case for example.

No USSD options?

That makes some sense at least if you already have money stuck with Vodacom.

I am not with FNB...but Capitec. What these two have in common is they offer rewards and insurance and also VMNO services. Personally Capitec have kept their app simple with very recognisable options to choose from and it does not stutter or take time to load. It just works. If Capitec can do it...surely others can too.

And yes...I admire what Bank Zero is doing....I have a account with them...but jeezzzuz....WTF designed THAT app???? App design....it is important people. Simple and clean.

The fibre section of the app is crap. I am supposed to see info about the modem the issued me, butit's never worked, it says it can't see my modem.

The navigation is also bad, especially if you use what they think are the popular spaces for consumers. It should be able to see what products you have and prioritize that in your view.

That was a legacy feature. Previously on the system I have access to I could see current status...online or offline and also a 3 day history. That is no longer the case for a long while now. Not sure if it was a system change or because the newer routers dont support it. Not sure why it is on the app if we can't even see it on our side.
