Hi all, since MyBroadband doesn't have a "voice line" thread, I feel that this may be the closest I could find.

We reside in Rondebosch East, and while I have an uninterrupted fiber line, our Telkom Voice line goes dead for the duration of the outage. Since the voice line isn't in my name. (it belongs to the house, not the occupants IN the house), there's little I can do. I am not even going to bother reporting the issue to Telkom, as they always give me the go around. So I hope their social media team notice this post, and take action.

Thanks

How can that be the case? Is the voice line on a different bearer to your fibre line? How are you keeping the fibre line going during LS?
Is the voice line on Copper? then it can't go down if it is a traditional service. Where does the phone plug into?

The batteries in the exchange have probably failed. Doubt they will do anything about it.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and ask what type of phone you guys using?
send a pic?

If the line belongs to the main house and he simply has an extension on copper, then he actually will not know how the service is provided. IF the main house is also on fibre with a separate ONT, and the line has been transferred to fibre and that ONT has no back up it will die during LS.
