Hi there,
I know this have been mentioned, but I am still not sure how to proceed.

So I ordered a telkom voice line closer 2 and asked to activate adsl on line so, guy pitched up yesterday from telkom, after 15min he leaves and I have my voice line number. The thing is he didn't do anything about the adsl and just told me its not part of why he is here, he's just doing the voice.

Now im not sure how to proceed, I have already applied at afrihost for my line today and typed my number in it's capable om 2mb, however telkom's site doesn't recognize my number.

How do I know that my current setup is even capable for adsl??
I just see two phone jacks in the wall.

Call afrihost and get them to verify the line

My understanding is that ADSL is a separate order to the voice line. You have to order them together, or if not possible, order ADSL after the voice line is installed...

OKay so finally got sms saying my adsl line is activated? Now what?

I add pots filter, phone works fine, until I add the adsl to the pots filter then I cant make any calls anymore.

I plug my cable into router from outlet and setup my router to the settings, still stays dead?

ADSL must not be connected to the POTS filter, will not work. ADSL connects directly to the wall socket, phones and any other analog devices connect to POTS.

Correct, but not 100% depending on the type of device (filter).. My old one had two outputs... like this :)

Guess inside the device the dsl moers straight through and the phone gets filtered..

then i must have splitter since it has inputs marked phone and adsl. either way connected just the adsl to phone jack, router cant connect

You have it right.. but try this. Unplug all and just your adsl cable from your router into wall socket directly and see if your modem syncs. If you see some funky lights flashing and going green then you can confirm sync by going into your router settings.

If that works.. next is to get phone to live in harmony with your internet.

And there I go, posting from my new adsl line.

Must say having great performance from afrihost.
