I've finally managed to get FTTH installed with Axxess as my service provider - fibre is by Telkom (Openserve). I'm therefore left with my old copper line as well as fibre. Ideally I'd like to get my voice line onto fibre too, but Telkom claims they can't do this unless you take a complete package with them (voice and data) as part of a 2-year over-priced contract which doesn't suit my requirements at all. Does anyone know how to convince Telkom to activate voice over their own fibre infrastructure whilst still keeping data requirements with another ISP? The ONT supplied does have 2 POTS ports, so the hardware should support it, and I overheard the technician asking for "data only" activation when he installed the line and ONT - so it should all be possible...

Sign up with a voip provider and get a sip phone. Many of them will port your Telkom number to the voip line as well.

This. You may not even need a sip phone and can plug your copper lines into the VOIP providers device to utilise all your existing phones
