I got the tplink deco today and I've just set it up, and we have a grandstream voip device so I use my normal landline handset but with voip.

We have been getting calls during the last hour from 1001 number. That's the whole number. We answer and there's silence.

I Google it and it says it's a ghost number or something like that.

The number keeps calling us

Normally means someone is trying to access your device (hacking attempt)

Make sure your GS is secured

What you're referring to is called a "ghost call". It's because port 5060 is open on your WAN port, and it being forwarded to your SIP device. Ghost calls are direct ip to ip SIP calls from automated SIP dialers. It's a major indication that you have a security hole in your router, probably because you have SIP ALG enabled, or someone has manually port forwarded port 5060 on your router. To stop the ghost call you need to disable the fowarding of port 5060, there's absolutely no need to have this port open on your router.

  1. Disable the SIP ALG, or SIP helper on your internet router.
  2. Do NOT ever do a port forward for port 5060, 5061, 5062 from your internet facing side to your phone or for that mater any port forwards to your phone, no mater what anyone tells you it is not required.
  3. Secure your SIP phone admin and other users defined on it.
