VOIP for home use

Are you guys using shaped or unshaped?
I'm currently with mweb uncapped and am weighing up my options?

i dont think you will get an unshaped package for home use at a feasible price. 512kbps unshaped uncapped should cost you in the region of R1500?

Never said anything about uncapped :p Take i everyone is using capped shaped then

I'm interested in trying this as well.
Got Billion router
Will install voip software on iphone, ie iCall or something like that.
Not worried about a home phone though. Never use it for outgoing calls, so not seeing a good reason not to keep the original telkom land line number for incomming calls.
Will use iphone's iCall for outgoing.
Line is 384
Data is uncapped from afrihost.
Will report back as to how nice/not nice it works

What is the monthly charges for when Signing up for a Voip line.

Some companies call it "switching" which can be circumvented by hosting your own dedicated Asterix box. But I am not interested in such ventures.

What is the most reasonable amount of money to spend monthly for "voip access" / "switching" services?

Thanks

So you've connected a normal phone to the SPA-3102? and it's set up to a SIP account for outgoing?

Yes, so R10 monthly fee for the line (waya waya) for incoming calls, and the rynga.com (~R20 per month) for all outgoing calls (except 0800, 1023, etc -they're routed via the Telkom line) You cannot get ADSL on a waya waya line.

I went for switch, not the best call rates I must say. But service is quite efficient so the monthly fee is worth it, and you get voicemail, forwarding....
