Hi All,

I have a problem with receiving incomming calls via VOIP.

This only happens when I connect my iBurst modem to my WAN port on my D-Link DI-624S router. If I connect the modem to a lan port on the router and run the connection from the pc I can receive and make calls.

I'm using sjphone, and via the help they say that I'm behind a NAT. How do I get past this NAT problem as the help file is not very explanitory.

I'm using iCall.

when you plug the modem into the lan port of the router, then the router isnt doing any routing, and just acting as a switch.

when you plug it into the wan port, then the router can route and do its job.

it seems obvious the problem would be in the router settings. for sip to work, you need port 5060 open for UDP packets. that is the signalling side, call initiation and ringing. once the call is answered more sip ports open, typically in the 10000-20000 UDP range.

see if in your router you can either open port 5060 udp or port forward it to the pc in question. if your ringing then works then you should have one way audio, so do the same for the higher numbered ports.

Done the port forward for a coup,e of ports to see that it works, but I'm still not able receive incomming calls. I forwarded 5060, 5070, 5090 for UDP & TCP.

How can I check if the ports are open, I found a package on the web and it says port is not open. My firewall is also disabled.

IF you are running SIP protocol device from behind a NAT'd network, then ideally you should be making use of a SIP proxy server, or a firewall that knows about and can fix your SIP header packets for you, these are expensive devices vs the standard modems.

The SIP proxy will fix your SIP packets from your device for you correctly, and hence ensure your device is reachable.

Some VOIP providors offer free SIP proxies if you are connecting to their systems.
