Hello mybroadband.co.za,

#1 What would be a great brand VoIP phone to choose in terms of quality and whilst maintaining cost efficiency for 5 members. (Currently thinking of Yealink)

This is for 5 people to make use of.

#2 What would be the perfect ISP to choose to match these IP phones. Calls are mainly made internally and within SA.

I cannot help you my friend except to say we are with VOX and have a Pancom system with 5 incoming lines and about 10 extensions.- we have endless problems.

Distorted sound quality, so bad that customers prefer to email us. Internal extensions don't ring..... Pancom have come at least a dozen times but it's just as bad as it was 30 months ago.

Got my Fanvil X1 phone from Scoop 3 years back. Cheapest one I could find. Works perfectly.
Any fibre or LTE connection giving you more than 20 down and 10 up will work

I use Freshphone for my home handset and mobile. My total phone costs for both are well under R80 a month

Overseas calls 34c/min, local 39c, mobile 69c

But speak to Euphoria for a business solution. Still excellent value. Got them at the shop

yealink are very popular , you cant go wrong.

+1 for Yealink. Fanvil looks like even better value for money, but the person who advised me on which phone to go for (provides VoIP support) begged me not to. As someone who doesn’t know, I took his advice and got the T46U instead. YMMV but I’m happy with the Yealink. It works.

Can't go wrong with Yealink. I administer about 700 extensions with Cloud PBX's in my job, and we're all on Yealink.

Firmware updates are idiot proof. Strong reliable phones, and excellent support. I have worked with Fanvil & SNOM, and to be honest I'm not a fan. SNOM's are a nightmare. Fanvil's are not great ( in my experience ), but come in a close second.

I would highly recommend stay away from LTE for VOIP unless you have a dedicated APN. If you're going fibre configure & dedicate your SIP & RTP traffic - highly recommended.

I will vote for Yealink, but that's because I am one of the guys at Nology who provides support to anyone who buys a Yealink phone.
But I was a fan of Yealink before I joined Nology because its a brand that has a good quality product.

I would also recommend a 3CX PBX. A 4 concurrent call Standard license is free.

I'll +1 a Fanvil, cheap as chips, well built, work great in 3CX as well.
