My father wants to implement VoIP and a PBX into his business. Currently we have 4 office staff making and receiving calls. This number will however grow in the coming months as we will be employing more office staff, reps and a branch in another town. Currently we do not use any PBX/PABX.

Who can I speak to about VoIP and PBX in the Cape area, if anyone has any recommendations?

Is there anyone who installs Skype for Business solutions, namely Skype for SIP Open Beta?

Could Skype for Business be a suitable solution for this here in S.A?

Some info on the solution we seek:

Currently we have two Telkom landlines, one is 384kb ADSL enabled.(We want to upgrade to a 4mb line or maybe 8mb if available)
Our monthly Telkom bill is anywhere in the region of R1500 to R2500.(Calls and line rental)
Obviously with our new ventures our telephony costs will increase.
We want to be able to forward incoming calls to our employees desk phones or cellphone nrs.
We want to be able to manage calls and view call logs for each employee.
We do not want a 087 nr but a 021 nr.(as I understand it 087 nrs are more expensive to dial)
We want VoIP because we will be receiving and making calls from/to overseas, be it from/to landlines or VoIP nrs.

Any advice would be sincerely appreciated.

Try a Hosted PBX solution from Switch Telecom. For what you need it will be R350 per month including 10 extensions and 4 lines. 021 number is available plus the features you need. The extensions can be in multiple different towns and you can transfer calls between them as if they were in the same physical office. www.switchtel.co.za for more info.

I can recommend Warwick he is on here and you can PM him. He set my company up with a full VOIP implementation.

We have a small business in Cape Town as well and are looking to possibly change to a voip service. It is my understanding, though, that we are not limited to a Cape Town voip provider?

+1 For Switch Telecom - I got nothing but great service from them when setting up a new outbound call centre.

I'm now in the same boat. I'm just about to order some land lines and ADSL, but I'll do anything I can to avoid having to use Telkom.

Is Switch Telecom still the best guys to contact or are there better voip companies / solutions around these days?

I know its a very competitive field in larger business, but don't know about small business options.
