VOIP service provider needed

I currently have a hosted PBX with a local provider, who, for many reasons I want to leave.

I have a geographically ported 011 number with them, on the ECN network.

I am looking to set-up a MyPBX / Asterisk box at my JHB premises. Into that I plan feed the ECN SIP connection, plus two landlines (that currently support ADSL data only and I may as well use). I have three VOIP extensions at that premises, plus one at my home.

I will be setting up a CT branch in the new year and that'll need to be brought into the mix too.

Can anyone suggest a solid service provider to assist with making this all work? Or if you represent a service provider that can offer this service, please post your contact details - you could try PM'ing me but for some reason I don't seem to get PM notifications so it may take a few days for me to respond.

Im not sure that you should abandon a hosted solution just because of a bad provider experience but either way i can assist you i know Asterisk and MyPBX well. I will gladly set you up a free trial account to evaluate provider service. Feel free to pm me at any time and ill contact you directly.

you are on the right track:
1. stay with ECN
2. would suggest a dedicated adsl for voice line in jhb (center of network)
3. let them (ECN)move the geo number away from the current provider onto their tree
4. asterisk is the way to go (look at freepbx v2.10 on Asterisk 1.8 most stable version for what you want to achieve)
a. setup asterisk machine in JHB
b. run vpn from branches and/or home into JHB and create as remote extensions ( you can use a billion router or openvpn if you do not want to spend cash on another adsl modem)
c. the yealink phones from t26 upwards has a openvpn client support

Cheers

ADSL is not suitable backhaul for business VoIP, its unstable and over contended ! I can offer you a stable uncontended solution that will guarantee voice quality.

I believe that Telkom has new pricing on Diginet . If so, wouldn't that be a better option than ADSL? I'd imagine that a 384Kb line would handle a reasonable number of concurrent calls?

It's been 5 days....is this the level of service to expect when they are network problems?

Try Switchtel,I saw them mentioned in another thread, I sent an enquiry, the replied within a few hours and have quite a range of services so I was happy with them.

I agree with Paul, don't even consider DSL. Give him a call and chat to him about their NGN leased line offering. Affordable and stable.

The business I currently work for is using Telfree (http://www.telfreeclassic.co.za - Not to be confused with the international Telfree which no longer supports SA clients) for our in-house calls.

We run an Elastix 2.4 box (Asterisk 1.8, FreePBX 2.10) over an MWEB consumer uncapped 4Mb line. The benefit of using an Asterisk-based system with FreePBX on it is that you'll have PSTN capability via either a Sangoma/Yeastar/etc-based POTS card or an external device such as a voice gateway, for both incoming and outgoing calls, whichever you choose.

While it's not recommended to run business VoIP services over an ADSL line, we rarely experience issues with any calls and almost always have exceptional call quality. We have 4 active SIP lines with 8 users, and the only noticeable time when echos occur is when there are active downloads on the line during business hours. This of course could be amended with VLANning/QoS, but we have yet to actually implement that because we don't ever experience call drops or bad call quality.

With that said, all of our clients who we've sold VoIP services to run on a Neotel SIP line, so I can also give Neotel the thumbs up if you want to go that route.

We're also about to implement splitting the Neotel channels between two branches (JHB/CPT), with an Elastix box in each location and a trunk in between them over a VPN for internal calls for another client.

Hi Tron

First let my apologize on behalf of Euphoria Telecom for not responding swiftly.

We prefer to respond within the hour. We have been moving to a new CRM platform to improve our overall customer experience. It is possible your inquiry was overlooked or sent in the wrong direction during this period. It was a difficult move but we are now in a much better position to service our customers with swift, friendly service and consistent service.

If you have not been assisted, please send an inquiry to [email protected] and you will be assisted first thing on Monday morning.

We are launching a free version of our express hosted pbx for up to 5 users for a year. The limitations are no number porting, only one inbound number, and the extensions are preset to 101 to 105. Otherwise it comes with the full set of features including the online pbx management system and reports. If you require multiple numbers or porting it costs R 250 a month.

Best Regards
George
