VOIP static

I have been trying to no avail to make some calls with Skype the past few days but the static and distortion has made it useless. I have had to return to the Telkom line paying international rates just to get what I needed to get done, done.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Hope can I minimize it, because I use normally use Skype for all non-SA calls. This has put a damper on me.

By the way, updated to latest Skype version on my end. Calling normal phones in America.

If you are using IS, it could be the weather, if you are on SAIX, it could be agressive shaping and poor international. I use Verizon and have very little problems ever (unshaped, low latency).

Are you using ADSL? Try installing a QOS (qaulity of service) ADSL Router to prioritze voice over data! That should solve the problem of static.
