do you think that telkom will cap the national bandwidth given that companies (&homes) will start taking advantage of VOIP, connecting branches in & around South Africa?

I'm hedging my bets on this one.
We need to connect our Cape Town and Jhb branches, as of the first of December, in order to use a new application.
I was considering a VPN over ADSL solution but, after careful consideration, I decided to go with 64k Diginet.
I will keep the ADSL lines at both ends for Internet access, and only application data (i.e. no POP, etc.) will use the Diginet line.
The deciding factor was that as of Feb 2005 we can hook up the PABX's via the diginet link, as well as the servers. The Routers will allow us to prioritize the VoIP traffic, whilst the Application will be using Terminal Services and should see little if any impact.
No risk of Telkom Caping local access, a form of SLA (at least better than ADSL) and the savings on inter office calls will pay for the Diginet.
Do the Maths, this VoIP could end up making Telkom money in the long run, if they would embrace technology and not fight it all the time.
Cheers
Chris
