hi all,

first forgive me posting here, can't find proper block to post!

i've been testing VoipBuster for more than one week now, i think it's fabulous, not only just you can phone more than 20 contries for absolutely free (beta period, 1 Euro needed), but the voice quality is unbelievablely clear (better than SkypeOut, my experience so far), i want to know if anyone else here is using this service, any comments!

my testing platform is Win2k/X-Lite (www.xten.com) and VoipBuster 1 euro account, next step, i'm going to test hardware solution (SIP ATA), from the VoipBuster's forum, everybody says ATA is much better than softphone, at least you don't need the computer!

sorry again, i knew there is dedicated forum for Voip (www.voipforum.co.za), but it's too cold there, here is more hot.

RPM, maybe you can open a VoIP block here, Voip is one of the most useful application over broadband for both personal and business user, better than gaming i think! ;)

I'm using voipbuster for several weeks now with mostly excellent voice quality. I got a phone number in Germany (0211... Duesseldorf) that works (rings) only with the voipbuster softphone. The Grandstream GXP2000 works fine with voipbuster but doesn't ring when the assigned number is called.

hi neuvians,

is your GXP2000 connected to ADSL modem directly or attached to Router, i think the ring problem must relate to firewall/NAT, have you try set the STUN server to stun.voipbuster.com.

actually i applied an UK number (callUK) connect to my FWD account as my inbound call, voipbuster suppose be good for PSTN out-break

can you set 2 accounts/services for inbound and outbound separately on your GXP2000?

The GXP2000 is connected to the modem/router. It has provision for 4 separate providers (I'm using voipbuster, GMX and sipgate) but not separate in and out. The ring problem seems to be sip-related because voipbuster is using IAX client in their software.

Since I have a German E-NUM registered number from sipgate I am using voipbster only for outgoing calls (mostly for free).

Yes this one is great while it is free

I have been using for 4 weeks now and logged about 30hrs of free calls mainly to Western Europe. The sound quality is better than Skype.

Tried finding out how these guys are managing to do this, but no luck yet. I suspect they are subsidizing to get the client numbers up before they charge for these calls.

Hope it lasts for a while.

I belive is based on the following model.

1. all local calls in the US are free as well as bandwidth costs nothing, so they might be using your monthly fee to ofset that. they could also be using a loss leader to attract customer until you use other break out facilities to eg : Zim

WickedWeasel,

I understand that all local calls in USA are free, and therefore this model works there but this is not widespread in Europe.

I have made 30hrs of calls to mainly Europe, and based on what I am reading on the international forums there are tens of thousands of people like me 'abusing' their system, so it could be costing them quite a bit?

The loss leader I understand, but how long can they keep this up?
