Received one of the new rain mobile sims, all good except there is no setting on my Samsung S22 to turn on VoLTE and thus cannot use call functions. These stuff just never auto provision on the sims with any network it seems. Can @rain_mobile offer any assistance here with manual provision or will everyone including me be forced to use the raintalk app. In that case I will not be using this product

Indeed, unlike the S22 Ultra or S22+, the standard S22 does not have that setting as a default.

However, Vodacom provisions it automatically on a sim level, so this is what I see on my standard S22 when I switch to a 4G network:

Unfortunately that functionality is not automatically enabled by most of the other network operators.

However, this is what RAIN claims about their 4G service:

Exactly my point, S22 supports VoLTE, I have it on MTN and Vodacom. But now with rain, it didn't provision automatically. There is no way to turn it on. You would think this would be top priority with them relying solely on LTE for calls.

So now I have to install some crap app to take over my default phone app in order to be able to make and receive calls.

Just not gonna cut it for me.

My last hope is that @rain_mobile or @rain_networks, if they want to help, are able to provision on sim side.

Please provide me with your email via PM using the following link: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/conversations/add?to=rain_mobile

Ok, so for those wondering, you can only call on rain if you use their raintalk app as your dialer. This was the information given to me by rain.

There is also no wifi calling.

I won't be using these sims then.

I too upgraded, thinking I can make use of the 2 free sim cards that gives you 2 free gigs, 60 free minutes, 100 free sms's a month. Tried everything.
I have the Samsung Galaxy A30S. My MTN sim shows VoLTE enabled but nothing for Rain sim. This tells me Rain is not supporting VoLTE for my phone. Not sure if this is the case for any smartphone.
I can only receive and make calls using the raintalk app but then what about the 2gig and 100 free sms's ?

Hi @Lewy, check your PM.

Really guys? This is easy to fix.
Just add rain APN in "Mobile Network" settings. ((name "Rain" ; APN "Rain") rest of the setting will auto set))
Then install rainTalk app, set rainTalk as default dialer app - (it really works exactly the same as any other dialer app) - enable mobile data - you should see "4G" next to network signal lable top right -and carry on using as normal.
Most of us have an old 4g able phone lying around anyway - its free and their 4g coverage is actually quite good - use it as a backup home phone or whatever.
You have to figure this out on your own unfortunately as rains instructions and support regarding this is less than useless. I got free data and airtime and I WILL use it!

All fine and well, but then they shouldn't announce they support VoLTE because they don't. Tried on multiple devices, can only phone using the raintalk app, which is silly in this day and age. It's false advertising

So I only got my sims today. I can also confirm the native VoLTE on your phone don't work with it, you still need the raintalk app. In my case you can set the raintalk app as your default dialer and continue to use your old dialer to make calls on rain. I guess it switches over in the background to the raintalk service. In any case the feature works just fine and the 2GB data is a big bonus when away from the router.

For those interrested, after the August update on my S22, was a big one (about 2.2gb) I now suddenly have native VoLTE support on rain, so no need for the raintalk app anymore. There still is no switch to turn VoLTE on or off but I have noticed some additions to the APN section ala MTN so not entirely sure if it was the update or not

My rain voLTE worked with that raintalk app on my huawei p40 lite i recently got an iphone now i cant get or receive calls over LTE or bloody wifi and their customer care is as useful as anne frank’s drumkit

Same experience here: in a dual SIM Huawei phone, the Android VoLTE option is shown for the MTN SIM but not for the Rain SIM.
