It's called opensource... There are a lot of sites out there that ask for specific software to be developed (or bugs to be fixed)

The company i used to work for offered their service & time to a charity organization. We gave them the use of a project manager, graphical architect and a coder/programmer, in order to redo their website so they can better market themselves. Gave them a nice professional looking site with CMS capabilities.

Think we sponsored the hosting as well. Used open source CMS solution.
