You can go nuts choosing a car. Drive both then decide.
Personally, I like the protection of a full maintenance plan, because you have a fixed expense for the duration of the plan. With a service plan or no plan, you can have clutches, brakes and other expensive "weat and tear" items fail on you and in the end cost way more than the depreciation on a car with maintenance plan.
Like i said though, drive both and you'll just know.
