Another exciting new model making it's debut at Geneva, is the new Volvo V40. Rival to the A3 Sportsback.

What do you think?

Prettier than the C30.

EDIT: the C30 is a rival to the Golf right? Where will this fit in?

The C30 is more of a rival to the Scirocco, seeing as it is a 3-door coupe. This is a 5-door and looks slightly bigger than your average C-segment hatch (like the A3 sportsback which is also slighly bigger than a Golf)...

The previous generation V40's were basically SW versions of the S40 sedans right?
Now why does this look so similar to the C30.
Should they have just called this the new C30.

The V50 is the SW version of the S40 these days. C30 has 2 doors and is a coupe...

Side & rear windows look small in those pics which does not make for a nice driving experience in my book.

Just thought I'd revisit this thread, now that the official images have been released... Such a pretty car!

If they're launching a V40 - surely they're going to be launching an S40 shortly?

Checked on Wiki. Seems like most of the European production happens in Sweden and Belgium, but they also have assembly plants in Chile, Malaysia, China etc.

They used to have a plant in Pretoria, but that was shut down in 2006...

What are you saying? Please explain to the rest of us.

... those that aren't aware, rip off Volvo drivers :/

I didn't think much of them myself until I got one. Safe, quick, excellent build quality, excellent customer service and the latest models are good looking. The one negative of a Volvo is resale value

While they may have been the older, more boring type in the past - things have changed drastically in the past years. Welcome to 2012, Haldex :P
