Mineworkers will not vote for the African National Congress at the next national elections, a worker at Lonmin's Marikana operation said in Johannesburg on Thursday.

"We might not be educated, but we understand politics... and in politics people do not die as they did in Marikana. We are not telling people not to vote... vote, but not for the ANC," Tholakele Dlunga said at the University of Johannesburg. He was speaking at the launch of a book about the events at Marikana.

Dlunga accused the government of killing 34 of his colleagues during a violent wage strike on 16 August. Police opened fire on the striking miners near a koppie in Wonderkop.

The book, Marikana: A View from the Mountain and a Case to Answer was authored by UJ's head of sociology Professor Peter Alexander and four others.

Dlunga said he cursed the ANC's upcoming elective conference in Mangaung.

"If Mangaung caused Marikana, then I curse it."

Later, Professor Alexander said that the Farlam commission of inquiry was not neutral.

"The inquiry is a lawyers' paradise. The torture on the workers, their pain and suffering is not being brought to the commission's chairman. It is not neutral," Alexander said.

the uneducated are becoming educated. :D

They say that now but come election day.... Let's hope miners that understand politics are people that keep their word.

"We will not tolerate this!"

"We deemund change!"

"Down with this sort of thing!"

...

"Ooooh, free t-shirt and sandwich..." *nom, nom, nom*

Of course they WILL vote for the ANC and Zuma too.

Nobody but ANC members vote for Zumatello. And then it is very few ANC members. So Zumatello becomes the one that floated to the top.

Then parliament elects the state president through a vote.

People, meaning the voters, do not vote for any individual. We sort of get left with whatever rubbish our proportional representation system dishes up. And we get the persistent stench because those that can make a choice are part of a mind hive block vote. Getting rid of the 'drol in die drink water' is going to be a long process because the ANC is incapable of knowing what a good leader looks like.

Also a case of who can grease the paws , that's the chap an ANC devotee demands.
Africans have been selling out their fellow brothers and sisters for hundreds of years.

Zuma only has one thing to say to win 'em over again "if you do not vote for the ANC you're gay" /inspired by Peter from The Family Guy

Because the ANC has no interest in improving your life unless you're one of their elite - and this country has limited resources with which to refill their slops trough.

It's looking more an more like many ANC supporters will not be voting in the next election especially if Zuma is re-elected this December, one challenge is trying to convince non-ANC supporters to actually go out and vote...
