your way of life surely if worth fighting for

yes brad if i was a Zimbabweans i would rather die and fight for a better than life than give into these ppl

maybe you would rather live in poverty with no way out for you or your family, personally i would rather die trying for a better life than live with shytty life

see the problem is brad to many of these starving ppl think like you do
if they actually looked into the future and not the present they would see they need to stand and fight and not bow down like intimidated little poodles

Western propaganda! The west is just trying to get a reason to invade zim after the "fair" elections failed to put their puppet in place. West just want to exploit Zim's resources. Thankfully Mugabe is there to be a good solid leader for the people or the country would be in an even worse state!

Joking guys! It really is a bad thing to see, don't know why the UN hasn't stepped in yet... this is a crime against humanity

If you have kids and a wife of your own, you will think twice about sacrificing your family for future generations, especially when you can have a go of coming to SA. I don't say that I wouldn't want to see it happen... don't get me wrong, I just dunno if I would be the first to sacrifice my own family, that's all... so I couldn't speak for others.

President Mbeki has only to say the word although The UN may refer him back to SADC or The AU.

What could SA do here?
1. Send troops.
2. Protect political refugees until the situation stabilises.
3. Send a Diplomatic Party to help defuse the situation.
4. Continue with Quiet Diplomacy.
5. Contact the UN.
6. Garner support from SADC and The AU.

The SA Government will try it's best to avoid a Military Solution to the problem.
For one, The Election Results have still to be released so what do you base your action on as Officially no Results have yet been released.
Other than media reports there are no reports yet of genocide, merely some farmers getting pushed around and they are white so who cares.:(

The situation to me is so African. Someone gets into power, thinks he is God and Immortal and will rule until hell freezes over, no matter what the consequences.

All we can do is possibly protect political exiles while the Foreign Office continues to negotiate with the Zimbabwe Government. More Quiet Diplomacy.
I think SADC will in essence employ the same tactics.
The Wheels of Diplomacy grind very slowly.
I see no quick solution other than the Election Commission releasing the results and we take it from there.
 
Why it is taking so long

You all know why the Results of the Zimbabwe Elections are taking so long.

Aziz Pahad said on tv this morning something to the effec that we wouldn't want the rest of the world interfering here, so why should we interfere in zim... I think they sometimes forget who they 'speak on behalf of'.
Looks to me that he speaks on behalf of the bullying minority... in the old SA regimen, that would be the right-wing nats... the same people they cried foul about.
 
A freind of mine has just returned from Zim where he went to get his grandfather out of jail. Reason for arrest - for being white.
 
Send some troops to protect the people there and make them feel safe enough to vote for whoever they choose!, or leave them alone to rot under mugabe.

Got an update - seems the grandfather wanted to buy something and the person he bought the item/goods from demanded rands. He said he can only pay in Zim dollars - she got upset becuase he wouldn't give her rands and went and made a story at the cop shop and they were only to happy to throw him in chookie.

He is now in SA waiting to leave for Portugal. They need to get his wife out. But these are old folk and the only thing they have left in the world seems to be their furniture. The family has been trying for years to get them out but old folk can be stubborn.
 
trouble is, its ultimately just a matter of time before one or another Western (or Eastern) power, start to provide weapons to the opposition - and SA ends up with a regional war on its borders.
Mugabe's secret police and possible death squads, are already active inside SA - (see the fairly paranoid BBC documentary 'Running From Mugabe')

The Powers That Be, like countries in chaos - it's like hitting the pause button in a country, and prevents any other country from moving in and establishing itself..

Dont know how SA thinks its going to remain unaffected, if/when mass killings start
happening in Zimbabwe..

Good point. How can those retards in the SA government not realise that war in Zim could easily destabilise the whole region?
