I have signed up for gig4gig with an add on Bolt-on uncapped afterhours. I needed this account specifically for streaming. Over this weekend I must say I was less impressed with this account as I could not even stream one series from Popcorntime. I then switched to WebAfrica free GIG and I was able to watch two episodes and a movie from the same server, Popcorntime.

When I signed up I was told that Bolt-on uncapped is good for streaming but this weekend, which was the first time I used it , I was not impressed at all.

Anyone with a similar problem? Bolt-on uncapped is open all weekends and weekdays between 6pm to 6am.

I need a good ISP for streaming.

Popcorn time is p2p and Vox seems to be shaping p2p during high demand (read: coz every man and his dog has got an account now) periods.

Either schedule what you want to watch to download overnight with a normal p2p client like utorrent, or use nzb's, netflix etc.

Thank you. Any ISP that I can use without having to be shaped? Afrihost seems to be doing the same thing.

Uncapped for R59? No, nothing else at that price. Either change your ways and use it as a downloading account, or;

Use an AH capped account during office hours weekdays, and any cheapest IS uncapped account (not OW, that's immoral) for weekday evenings and weekends, but I'm also done recommending stuff, people take it personal, best to do your own walkabout ;)

I am wanting to go a similar route with Vox. Are you saying that the Uncapped Bolt-On is fine for streaming from Netflix and Hulu etc, just not P2P sites?

Also, I am currently with Telkom, do I have to cancel my Telkom package before using my Vox account or is it as simple as changing the username and password in the router settings?

Thanks!

Had the same issue on Sunday night.tried streaming BBC iplayer on a 10mb line buffer buffer

My line is still with Telkom, I use Netgear Router, all I do is change the username and password.. three accounts, WebAfrica, Afrihost and Vox..

Same here, from Saturday, P2P was buffering every two minutes, had to switch to WA and was able to finish the movie, no buffer. Left me wondering what the hell

Technically yes, (I only noticed shaping on p2p), but I guess it all depends on how busy the network is (with the honeymoon being over and all).

Yes, like micham says, you can have other ISP's on your line (I have my line with Telkom).

On second thought, I will offer some advice.

If you want to avoid the frustration that you are experiencing now, I would hit up Crystal Web, they're using IS (I believe is the best backbone to be on) now, I'm sure DJ can make you an offer as you're not a heavy user.

I've been experiencing terrible Twitch streaming on my bolt-on account. When I switch over to my AH Capped account it streams fine. This is terribly frustrating. I hope they sort out the problem ASAP.

Odd that people expect an uncapped account at this price to perform like a capped account.
Unreasonable perhaps?

It used to, but now the honeymoon is over as more people join.

I don't see them investing heavily in IPC capacity to cover the R59 uncapped period when capacity is reached (which there are signs of now, maybe not in the south, but definitely in the north).

I'm also on fatpipe and performance is def lacking recently. Hopefully its something that they are sorting out. I'm not a heavy user.
