Hi all

I'm moving to a different unit within the same complex. Now just to make sure it was on time this time, I called VOX a week ago to inform them that I'll be moving into the new unit on the 1st of NOV. Today I get a call with them telling me that I need to return my router, and get a new one from them. And that I'll still need to wait 4 weeks for them to activate the line in the new place.

I can't imagine why it would take this long for two reasons: I already have an account with both them and Openserve, I already have a router that can be reconfigured. Also, the whole complex is Openserve.

Am I missing something here? Or is what they're saying correct and that I'll just need to bite the bullet and wait?

Thanks in advance.

Sign up with afrihost instead? And any cancellation charges they will pay for. Chat to @Afrigirl to confirm.

On their website:

If you aren't happy with your current ISP and want to experience Pure Internet Joy, we'll credit your Afrihost account to reimburse you for costs incurred in making the switch! We'll automatically zero‑rate migration fees associated with the last‑mile provider and then credit your Afrihost account for the termination costs charged by your previous ISP (up to the remaining balance of the R5000 maximum) when you submit a copy of the termination settlement to us.

I think the bigger concern here is the leadtime, how long OP will be without internet at all due to waiting periods for installation

Afrihost with openserve is within a few days for a new install. And if the fibre is already in place, even faster.
