Vox vs MWEB

So I have a 50gb vox account and an uncapped MWEB account. I'm pretty sure MWEB is shaped cause it is uncapped, where as the vox is not shaped.

In the last month my MWEB has been atrocious, then I switch to Vox and it is a million times better. So I need to know is MWEB only bad cause of Seacom/uncapped? And I'm considering moving to Vox as the speed is way more stable.

Would like to know if anyone is experiencing the same issues, reason for asking is my telkom line is also with MWEB and I have been with them for about 6 years, so if I change it will be a process.

I was also with Mweb 4mbps Uncapped till January 2016 (line syncs at 10mbps)... despite being on their premium package they started shaping & throttling us as we "use too much" - apparently 200-300gb is too much for a premium account.. but anyway. So decided to cancel Mweb Uncapped at 30 days notice and sign up to have a Vox 250gb Fat Pipe account the following month at about the same price.
Definitely made a huge difference! Completely unthrottled and unshaped. Few months later, Vox brought their prices down to and kept on giving us more data each month.. At November last year, I had 600gb per month at the same price.... Not that we use that much.. So downgraded to a smaller package (400gb) saving about R200 per month. Also, data rolls over so that's a huge bonus.
And even better, if you need to download big files - between 12 and 6am it's uncapped so you are free to go mad!

In my opinion, uncapped in SA is nothing but a big scam.

You could cancel just the data part with them -and continue using the line with Vox data.
(Unless mweb is all weird and doesn't allow for anything like that...which would just be more reason to ditch them completely, then. With all the options available out there these days, mweb is a terrible choice.)

Hi, I would suggest that you cover some troubleshooting steps to figure out what is causing the slow speeds. Please PM me your MWEB email address.

Hi, our 4Mbps uncapped premium packages had a download threshold of approximately 400GB over a 30-day rolling window back then and has increased to 600GB since.

Hi, I can confirm that having a DSL line only product with MWEB should be possible.

@MWEBHelp I just spoke to someone using online chat and they said this is NOT possible just to pay for the line and NO data, can you perhaps confirm?

I was a subscriber for 5 years with MWEB to show support for the Free-The-Web campaigne.
Then they started throttling at rediculously low thresholds for their so-called uncapped accounts . Left them and joined Vox and never looked back .
Mweb has become way too greedy for a company that preaches unrestricted access to internet ... Free-the-web ... but only for a little while , okay .

Afternoon, we do offer the option for you to have your ADSL line with us and no data package.

let me know if this is something you want to do, as our cancellations team should be able to assist with this.
