Hi guys, Vox is running a promo till end May, no installation costs, month to month setup, if you remain with them for year for Vumatel package (uncapped) . Looking at 20Mbps. Currently I have a ADSL capped line which I am VERY happy with, but the salesman says fibre uncapped does no work like ADSL uncapped, where you get throttled.

Your experience...anyone.

Vuma’s bandwidth charges are almost 100 times less than Openserve, so because of this the ISP’s are able to deliver a far better experience when it comes to last mile bandwidth. I.e from your house to the ISP’s network.

I've been on Vox (Vumatel trenched) uncapped 200/200 for nearly 6 months now, and I have personally not have had one hiccup at all.

It's constantly fast and stable.

I would not recommend Vox to anybody. Their product works, most of the time. Their support doesn't.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. If you cancel that contract within the clawback period, they will charge you.

FYI they debited my account with R2700 because they failed to inform me that they wanted their Router + Voip Phone back. After being a customer for more than 18 months. Still waiting on my refund, more than 3 weeks after returning the equipment.

Ultimately not worth sitting with their nonsense, when there are loads of other ISP's with better offerings and better service.

As with all ISP's that offer free installation they do specify that it is repayable if you cancel within 12 months.

I was with VOX for a few years on ADSL and can't remember having any issues and the 20/2 product is about R70 cheaper pm than WebAfrica which I've pre-order with.

Interesting and sneaky at the same time. they should make it clear that you are liable for the fees within 12 months. not hide it way below the the T's and C's. If you sign up and find out that the service is not for you, are you basically screwed?

Do all ISPs do this? e.g Cool Ideas dont charge you to signup (or do they?)

It depends on the network you are signing up on, we always cover R1000.00 with no clawback clause. IE like on Vumatel we cover the connection fee but not the line installation.

Yeah, but people jump up and down when they cancel and they expect the router to also be free, as one of the posters mentioned. This is not a Vox specific "issue", most if not all ISP's will either want their router back or expect you to pay for it.

The clawback is mostly for the router and / or voip phone.

Also, if you don't read the t/c's why then throw your toys when you signed for it?

Link to this promo?
I see their setup costs are free, subject to a 2 year contract.
Installation cost of R1725 with Vuma still applies, as is the case with most ISP's.

Ahoy mate. Seems like you're referring to my post. Here's the short & sweet: If the ISP does not contact you (I cancelled more than 4 months ago) or does not attempt to collect their equipment, what would you do? I was a fibre customer of theirs for more than 2 years. According to Vox's original sales pitch, this made me the owner of the equipment after 12 months.

I only expected them to contact me before deducting almost R3000 from my account. But apparently sending a invoice minutes before debiting an account is sufficient? Took almost a month for the refund btw.

Glad you're happy with shyte like that.

Fair enough.

I would have probably done it a bit differently, but that's just me. If after a month they didn't contact me, and I didn't know if the equipment was mine or not, I would phone them.

Yes, it slipped through the cracks, but you are basing your total 2 years of Fibre with them on that?

Question, was the issue resolved and you got your money back?

Why is the onus on me to contact them? It's my equipment according to the deal I signed up for. THEY changed the story. THEY should have informed me that I needed to hand in hardware when I cancelled.

After they took my money, I contacted them and I was promised a refund immediately after the hardware was picked up (by the collections manager). 10 days after the courier picked up the hardware, I inquired about my refund. The same collection manager from vox contacted me to tell me I need to return the hardware first.... Turns out vox just doesn't know what their couriers are doing.

I had to phone them 4 times after that (not counting the emails) to get a answer regarding my refund. I was promised call-backs every time.

So yea, the issue got sorted. Thanks to me. After WAY too much effort and airtime on my behalf and me being out of pocket R3000 for almost a month.

Their bandwidth gets 7/10. Their customer service gets 0.

When I have been with Vox on Vumatel, the support from Vox has been terribly poor. The bandwidth was so-so. In my experience Vox fibre is overall just horse manure.

I have been with Vox on Vumatel for over 2 years.
20/2 uncapped service with Vobi.
Internet service works fine.
Had some issues at customer acquisition stage. But after that was sorted , billing ran without issues.

My experience thus far with Vox as my ISP and Vumatel has been disappointing . I have a fibre 20/20 line which runs fine and Vox has been really great with the support they offer my only issue is with Vumatel who I have been waiting for for nearly two moths to come and fix the Modem that that was suppose to be fixed within three days of the emergency touch up they did . two months later and still nothing, aside from that the line runs great with little or no lag
