Hi Anyone!!

I am having a bit of a hassel trying to work from home via a VPN connection through ADSL. I have the white WIFI Router.

When I connect from my work Laptop (windows 2000), through VPN, I get a connection, but when I try and connect to a server on the network I get a "cannot connect to logon server" error. I have a hunch it is a communication problem through the router, I think it is "bouncing" communication to the work server somehow... Any Ideas anybody???

Please help man.... F1....!!

Normally a VPN connection goes through a RAS type server. You might not have permission from your RAS account to access the server. It also sound like there might be authentication problems. I would suggest talking to the VPN/RAS administrator.

Range...

Check that your IP at home and at work is in different ranges.

E.g. 192.168.1.254 Home
and 192.168.2.254 Work

Had the same problem aswell, can connect but not browse.

Hi Snormossel,

the range that you are talking about at work, is it the VPN range or the server I am trying to browse?

What determines the range?

Sorry for all these seemingly stupid questions, but I have not done this before.. And I feel quite simple!!

That would be the range of the network at your work(server IP)

Do you have a hardware or software VPN at work i.e. are you dialing from your laptop to a router to work?

And what i mean by the ranges is the following:

Home PC: IP Address: 192.168.1.69
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254

Work PC:IP Address: 192.168.2.75
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.254

Router at work IP address: 192.168.2.254

The above mentioned can be vice versa aswell.

I have just spoken to the guys that setup the VPN at work, they seem to think that it could be the"file/Printer sharing" that is somehow blocked by a firewall on the WiFi router itself.

Could this be possible? as I am able to connect, yet not able to browse any files on the work network..

I am not connecting to a PC at work it is a server that I am connecting to, I use VPN client software on the laptop.

How would I be able to see the security options on the router?
