I'm new to setting up a VPN and of course I'm having a problem. I was able to set it up using a dial-up connection, but I want to use DSL. I have Verizon DSL but I don't know how to set it up to log into a VPN.

Does anyone know how to do this and what equipment I would need to make this work. Thanks.

1. Goto openvpn and install it on a linux box, test it via a lan connection (google: sysctl.conf and net.ipv4.ip_forward=1) There are a few things like this that might cause a problem
2. Goto dyndns.org and setup a ddns account
3. Log into your dsl router and configure it to update to you ddns account
4. Port forward 1701 and 1723 to your VPN server.

All according to plan it should work. Keep system log monitor open on your linux box because if there is a error on the connection process it will show here.

If GRE Protocol ID 47 comes up then that means your DSL router is blocking packets needed to make a VPN connection.
