VPN connection

Hi,

What application are you using to establish the VPN connection to your office? Are you using Microsoft VPN client or a IPsec VPN client?

Hi
If you are on a corporate APN, you will be assigned an IP address that is INTERNAL to your network, so VNC and most other apps will work without you having to fiddle with any other settings. You will also get Quality Of Service via the APN - in other words, MTN will gaurantee the backhaul network bandwidth straight onto your network via their MPLS network.
You can also use a VPN service on your network perimeter. In this case you can use the "Internet" APN (the public one), and fire up a VPN connection back to your office. Provided your VPN connection has the right firewalling rules set for it, you should also be able to gain access to all the relevant services you need. You will not be gauranteed QoS for these sort of connections.
I am of course assuming that you are connecting back to your office that has a fixed IP gateway. If you are trying to connect to another device that is on a cell network for example, its a little more complicated...
Hope this helps!
Cheers -

Hey ScrnScrm

You mention "MTN will gaurantee the backhaul network bandwidth straight onto your network via their MPLS network." Can you tell us what that speed is?

@rehd : whatever you pay for with your APN service... They gan gaurantee just about anything back into your network, but at a cost. Obviosly, you are still limited by the speed of you radio connection, but at least you will not be going over the internet...
