Greetings,
I have a problem which is making me want to pull out my hair.
We are using a VPN over 512kb ADSL to connect an office in Jhb(192.168.2.x) with the Head Office in Dbn(192.168.1.x).
Client side we have a Microcom router with an XP machine sharing its VPN connection. While the VPN connection seems to be OK, we have a number of problems which I cannot put my finger on.
The users log into the Domain, no problem, and the remote desktop to an application server works, allthough at times it is very slow. There are about 10 users sharing the VPN, about four at a time using RD or TS to log into the server.
When browsing mapped drives though I get errors stating that the connection to the drive was lost, or that the resource cannot be found. The machine then freezes up. Nothing can be copied from or to those drives. It sometimes starts, but then it gives the same error. When the frozen window is closed, you can browse the drives again, untill the same problem occurs.
Also, we can resolve domain names to Dbn, but Dbn cannot even ping our site (apart from the VPN sharing machine) which leads me to think that it is a routing issue. We tried adding a static route, but there was no change.
We thought of putting in a router with VPN capabilities, but I am unsure as to whether it is going to make any difference.
Please help, as my client is turning a shade of bright red at the moment.
Thanks
