VPN (PPTP) problems.

Anyone having trouble using a VPN over SAIX ADSL? We've mailed them about it as well.

Had a client who was successfully connecting via VPN (PPTP) on UUnet, now he can't connect on SAIX.

It may just be a clientside problem - I certainly hope so!

wierd cos I spoke to SAIX about it today. They said it had to do with prioritization and shaping - and I think the reason for that was so that you couldn't get around the 3gig cap. But you can upgrade to a 4gig unshaped account and it should be fine.

Are they connecting to the USA or somewhere else in SA? We use a number of VPNs on SAIX accounts to connect within SA and they seem to be working fine

ok - forget about my previous post - maybe.

I tested a VPN over ADSL with two different ISP's (TelkomSA and MWeb - 3GB)

TelkomSA works perfectly - and fast
MWeb times out -

SAIX told me there was shaping.
MWeb told me they did not shape VPN - SAIX did it for them

So what to believe? - is there something happening on the IPS's side or are SAIX and other ISP's (namely MWeb) having a communication breakdown

VPN works fine for me ... using IPSec though.
